On Tuesday, Jan 19th my father passed away and my parents house burnt to the ground. In one day life as we knew what gone. The following week when we had finally come to realize that we had to get bills straightned up and certain bills stooped and/or items turned off- my mother called Direct Tv to stop her service. Now remember less than a week ago she lost her husband of 26 years and their house that they had lived in for 20 years and everything that she owned except the clothes on her back. When she talked to the man that answered at Direct TV he informed her that she would be charged for the receivers that were in the house and she would also be charged a early disconnect fee. First of all, she had nothing to do with the recivers being damaged and second of all, how do you take Direct TV with you when you no longer have a house to put it in. Most importantly- how the he** is she suppose to pay for the DA** receiver when she has nothing !! She talked nicely to the man from Direct TV and asked if there was any way that they could waive all the fees under the circumstances because she doesnt have the money to pay ofr it. He informed her that there was no way for them to do that and that even though her name wasn't on the account that she would be responsible for paying that in a timely manner or they would hvae to take her to court. THAT IS TRUE CUSTOMER SUPPORT !! A woman loses her husband, her home and everything she owns- but lets take her to court for a couple of hundred dollars. Well let me be the first to tell you- I cancelled my Direct TV service also and we are proud consumers for DISH NETWORK and so will my mother one of these days when she has another home.

Direct TV really is a scam. I know personally the type of lies they use to lure you in and they charge you whatever they think they can get from you. This is worse than the government. I hae had my service turned off and refuse to be sucked in by them any longer. They did not give me the rebates ntil the second month and continue to charge me for their service and now it has a amount of 73.82 past due and they will not change the amount to show the rebate for the 1st month of service. I do not recommed this service to anyone. I need them to come and get the dish and the receiver before they try to make me pay for it. DO NOT GET DIRECT TV!!!!!
