If you are a lifelong KRAFT consumer you should know that the prepackaged American Cheese comes in packs of 16 or 24 slices. Besides no one else is going to want to buy an opened pack of prepackaged cheese--that goes way beyond the dented can aisle. I'm sure the manager of your local grocery store got a good laugh after you left plus a good story to tell at the next store manager convention about dumb questions customers ask. If you want an odd number of slices go to the deli they will give you 1, 8 or 19 slices or more if you ask.
