GE (General Electric) Monitronics Does not have a direct connect to police/fire/ambulance as sold/advertised

I had a new GE Monitronics alarm system installed last Friday 4/24/09 and turned on Monday 4/27/09. I would not have been inclined to purchase this unit or contract without the sales pitch that this system, the unit, was suppose to give you direct contact with the security company overseeing alarms and police/fire/ambulance company. This was very important to me as I have a Tier III rapist living next to me who peeps and peeks at me over the common wall between our houses. In the State of Nevada it is legal to be a peeping tom as long as you are not peeping in windows with a camera so the police can do nothing unless he attempts to enter my property or attacks. This security system was sold at my door by Monitronics – the security company was 1st Defense Security. The deal… 36 month contract, $39.99 a month, the first month free, $99.00 installation, $99.00 rebate, along with 2 additional months (total of 3 free months) paid by the sales person to close the deal. His personal check for $218.97 included the $99.00 rebate, one month free, $39.99, and his incentive of 2 additional months 79.98 out of his pocket. The install, the day before they came out with the sales person, we pulled wires and tested to make sure the system could be installed for the price given. After the contract was signed… Installers came to install, suddenly, as if the wires didn’t exist or were no good, they were going to have to make it a wireless system at an additional cost. I said forget it then. The sales person was still here and said, no, the house is fully wired and showed them. They then said, your phone system will not work with this, we will have to install one of our own cell phones for the 2 way calling/instant connect feature needed. This will be an additional charge. They brought that down to $5.00 a month telling me it is usually a lot more. They had to come back the next day for installation now. The next day, the window next to the rapist house, the most important window to be covered, suddenly, “you are not wired for this window”. I said yes I am, we pulled it and tested it yesterday. The installer, well there is no line there now. If you want that window covered, and I am sure you do since this is your most vulnerable site, it will be another $60.00 a month for me to put a wireless unit there. I said that he either needed to pull the wired BACK out or forget it and cancel the order/contract. He couldn’t get it out. I said get you tester and let me show you the wire is there. He stumbled all around trying to explain why testing (how they tested the day before) wouldn’t work. I said, so, if I have to cut into my wall to push the wire BACK through, will you connect it. All he could do was say yes, so I cut into the wall and pushed the wire BACK through. This is the integrity (not) you get with Monitronics. I am almost positive the sales person’s personal check will bounce if I have to cash it and I will have to file fraud and misrepresentation claims against Monitronics, the sales person and the security company 1st Defense Security as the security system’s (as well as additional system cell phone) supposed 2 way features to the security company and police/fire/ambulance did not work. As well as the fact that upon having to call the police department, learning that they do not respond to home security systems nor do they respond if a security company calls to tell them that a home security system alarm went off and they can’t reach the home owner. The truth is that 1st Defense Security sends a guard who takes a minimum of 10 to 20 minutes to arrive. Upon his perception, if he sees a crime from outside the house, he can then call 911, so an anticipated 10 to 20 minutes additional wait can be expected. See my complaint filed against 1st Defense Security for that fiasco – and you really should read that if you ever think about using 1st Defense Security – very important. I called the sales person, told him I still have his check, filed a complaint of fraud with my bank for return of the funds his company took out of my account, but who didn’t supply the product he promised me. I told the sales person, I know his intent was good, but this has turned foul and what explained what happened with the security company. That I would not cash the check unless I had to (recoup what the bank may not be able to get back for me) and/or I would be forced to use the check as evidence of fraud if he cancelled it. That I would return the check once my money is returned and the contract cancelled.
